Learning piano as an adult — starting, or starting over.

What is PianoRestart, and how does it work?

PianoRestart is a small, independent guide site for adults learning piano online — people starting for the first time, and people returning to the piano after years away. We research courses, methods and practice approaches, and explain in plain language who each one suits and who it does not. The site is funded by affiliate commissions, explained below and on our disclosure page.

How we research

Our course pages are researched reviews. That means we study the course itself as the vendor presents it — the curriculum, the lesson format, the guarantee, the delivery method — plus the maker's track record and what buyers report publicly. Then we tell you plainly what we found.

What we do not do: we do not claim to have bought, completed or "hands-on tested" a course unless a page explicitly says so. If our knowledge of a detail comes from the vendor's own description, the page frames it that way ("the vendor describes…"), and anything we could not verify is left out or flagged as unverified. Changeable facts — prices, guarantees, course contents — are dated on the page ("as of October 2026") and we direct you to check the current details on the course's own site before buying.

Who writes this

PianoRestart is run by a small team in Canada with a background in research and technology, writing for adult learners like the people in our own families: busy, returning to music later in life, and short on practice time. We are not a music school, we do not sell lessons, and nothing here replaces a good teacher if you can get one — a teacher who hears you play will always catch things a website cannot.

How the site earns money

Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and buy a course, the seller pays us a commission. It costs you nothing extra, and it does not change our verdicts — every recommendation on this site also states who the product is not right for, including the products we earn from. The full explanation is on our Affiliate Disclosure page.

Corrections

If you spot something wrong — a course changed its format, a guarantee changed, a fact is out of date — that is exactly the kind of thing we want to fix. This page will gain a contact route before the site launches publicly; until then, know that accuracy corrections are a standing priority, not an afterthought.
